Making a Figurine- Kinarra's Hunt
I'm sure we've all tried to make little shapes and people out of blue-tack and play-doe before and that's all the practice I'd had before making this figurine. I didn't think to research some advice because there seemed to be a logical way about it already, it's better for the brain to work out how to do things yourself. She's around 7 inches tall, took about ten hours to make from clay. I made the head first, then the limbless torso, I added her hair like a wig and used it to strengthen the connection between the head and torso. She has metal bars in her arms and legs which I used to strengthen them and keep them in the right place while they dried, the staff also has a rod in it, and was pretty hard to make, I was latter advised to use a real object for such things, I could have used a thicker rod or made on from wood, I'll keep that in mind next time. I based her on my little sister, more info about the project is on the design sheets at the bottom...
